Terms & Conditions
Last updated 27 September 2026
These Terms & Conditions (“Terms”) govern your use of the Trip Tick application and website (“Trip Tick”, “we”, “us”). By creating an account or using Trip Tick you agree to these Terms. Please read them carefully.
1. Your account
You are responsible for keeping your login details secure and for all activity that happens under your account. You must provide accurate information when you sign up and keep it up to date. Trip Tick is suitable for birders of any age. If you are under 13, please set up and use your account with a parent or guardian. If you are under 18, you must have permission from a parent or guardian before taking out a paid subscription.
2. Subscriptions & payment
Recording your birding in Trip Tick is free. Premium is offered on a subscription basis at £2.50 per month or £25 per year. Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing period unless cancelled beforehand. You can cancel at any time and will retain access until the end of the period you have paid for. Prices are inclusive of any applicable taxes unless stated otherwise. Payments are processed securely by our payment provider, Stripe; we do not store your card details. Except where required by law, subscription fees are non-refundable once a billing period has started, including for partially used periods — if something has gone wrong, contact us and we will look at it fairly on a case-by-case basis.
3. Acceptable use
You agree to use Trip Tick only for lawful purposes. You must not misuse the service, attempt to disrupt it, access it using automated means without our permission, or use it to store or share unlawful content.
4. Your data
The records you create in Trip Tick belong to you. You may export your data at any time. We do not sell, pass on or publish your records, and nobody else sees them unless you choose to share them — see Your sightings and who sees them for exactly what is shared and when. Our handling of your personal information is described in our Privacy Policy.
5. Intellectual property
Trip Tick, its branding, design and underlying software belong to us and are protected by copyright and other intellectual property laws. You may not copy, reverse-engineer or redistribute any part of the app or website without our permission.
6. Service availability
We work hard to keep Trip Tick available and reliable, but we cannot guarantee uninterrupted access. We may update, suspend or withdraw features from time to time. Offline functionality depends on data you have downloaded to your device in advance.
7. Suspending or ending accounts
You can delete your account at any time from within the app, or by contacting us. We may suspend or terminate your access if we reasonably believe you have breached these Terms, misused the service, or where we are required to do so by law — where possible, we will give you notice first.
8. Limitation of liability
Trip Tick is provided “as is”. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect or consequential loss, or for loss of data arising from your failure to maintain your own backups or downloads.
9. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of England & Wales, and any disputes will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England & Wales.
10. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes we will let you know via the app or by email. Continued use of Trip Tick after changes take effect means you accept the updated Terms.
